Sustainable streetwear for 2022

Let’s be honest, streetwear is always going to be in-style and on-trend. Whether you are aiming for a surfer chick look or are head to toe in sweats, streetwear never looks dated. And lockdown definitely gave us an excuse to go casual. I know many people who lived in their PJ’s for months while at home and I have noticed that many people now out and about are a lot more chilled about their appearance and are opting for comfort.

I am definitely one of those people who prefers comfort now as I gain more years and this outfit is one of my favourite streetwear looks. Inspired by skate wear and the 90’s movement (watch TV series ‘My So-Called Life’ for more fashion references), I put this look together with sustainability and fun in mind.

I think the only new item I am wearing here is this gorgeous shell ring from Ottoman Hands. Gold plated and designed to fit all as adjustable, it’s such a great item to add to my jewellery collection and has been worn many times already. The rest of my outfit is sourced from the highstreet but they are pieces I have had for a few years now. My Vans I have had for about 5 years but they are so comfortable and a style they still sell today. This camo jacket I bought in the sale from & Other Stories, is such a versatile item. It can be worn either long like I am here or you can unzip the middle and wear it cropped. It’s the perfect item for a sustainable fashion lover.

If you are looking to have a more sustainable fashion wardrobe, just buy smart. When you buy an item(second hand or new), just ask yourself, ‘Will this item last me a few years?’, ‘Is it well made?’, ‘Will it be in-style year after year?’. If you can honestly answer yes to all these questions, then it’s worth the investment. An added plus is that you can sell the item later on via eBay or Vinted when you are making room in your wardrobe in a few years time or if you have outgrown it etc.
