When it comes to celebrating getting older, I like to do it BIG and in style!
Some shy away from celebrating the day they were born but I love to do what I like best, spend it with the hubby exploring London (or somewhere else) with a hint of shopping.
My last birthday was a bit of a special one – not because I was turning a certain age (I am 35 now) but because I spent some time planning out what I wanted to do and selected the perfect outfit to do it in.
Firstly we had a review of the lovely Eccleston Square hotel to do which I was really excited about (read what I thought here) but we also planned to go to the Churchill War rooms near Westminster, see the new Star Wars film at the Everyman cinema and have dinner at our new favourite place – The Ivy. We had a pretty packed two days in London but I was also uber excited to try out the new outfit I bought for the occasion and I really felt like it was a good one.
Last year I wore a nice velvet number with a coat that everyone seemed to like(see it here) but I felt like this year I wanted to upgrade my style stakes and wear something that made me feel extra special.
As my style has changed a lot over the last year, I choose this outfit as it perfectly represents me and how glam I wanted to feel on my birthday!

OK, so this coat is a little special.
I first spotted it on Free People’s website and after seeing it keep going in and out of stock, a size Medium became available suddenly and I snapped it up before I could think too much about the cost.
Honestly, the price tag on this coat is expensive. I was really unsure whether I would keep it when it was on it’s way to me but as soon as it arrived and I tried it on, I knew it was £300 well spent.
I have received so many compliments when I wear it out and it makes me feel so glamours regardless of what I am wearing underneath. It’s definitely a keeper and I’m so pleased I just bit the bullet and bought it.
It’s super warm too and I will be gutted when it’s too warm to wear it.
I think yellow can be a really refreshing colour to wear. I think it does scare a lot of people but when you experiment with different tones and styles, it’s an easy colour to wear all year round and it brings a little sunshine into your life too.
I bought this jumper from And Other Stories and I really love it! It’s cosy, has great puff shoulders and I can’t wait to wear it with a short denim skirt now and throughout spring.
I also thought I would wear this cute embroidered skirt I bought from Zara. The length is just perfect for winter and I thought the floral design was just adorable and the green totally works too.
Do you like this outfit? I can’t wait to wear my coat again!
