Dinner with Zia Lucia, Highbury Islington, London

Pizza is my thing. I love different toppings, the flavour of bases and it’s a great dish to have when catching up with friends.

It was lucky then that I was invited to Zia Lucia’s restaurant in Highbury Islington which is a fab part of London (you may know it) so with my friend Phiroza in tow, we both headed there for a chat, some laughs and of course, Pizza.

I wasn’t sure what the décor would be when we arrived but when we got there the restaurant was warm and inviting. The team were super friendly too when they greeted us and they showed us to some seats and handed us some menus.

There are some great options of dishes to eat including large salads and shareable plates but I wanted a Pizza, plain and simple.

I have a love affair currently with Parma ham so I selected the Centurione pizza with tomato and mozzarella and Phiroza ordered the Nduja, a combo of tomato, mozzarella and spicy pork sausage.

It’s always a worry when you order pizza that it may feed a small horse but the portion sizes were ideal and great to warm our bellies for lunch.

It was nice to see that the pizzas were being prepared in the same room as the seating area. A big pizza oven dominated one corner and occasionally yummy dough smells would reach our noses making us hungrier while we waited for our mains to arrive.

My Pizza had the perfect combination of topping and sauce and was really filling and tasty.  Phiroza seemed to enjoy hers too and we tried to eat our pizza’s quickly in-between chatting and catching up with what is happening with our lives.

To finish off our meal we squeezed in some ice-cream which was delicious. Topped off with fruit, it was a great way to end the meal and enjoy something a little sweet too.

What I love about Zia Lucia’s is the chilled mood and relaxed nature it has. I felt like Phiroza and me could have sat there for hours just catching up while eating and it just wouldn’t have been a problem. There is nothing worse than feeling rushed and at Zia Lucia’s we felt right at home.

The chain has a few branches that you can try out in London including their new one at Boxpark Wembley which is meant to be amazing!

Have a look at their website for locations and also have a scout of their menu also.

DISCLAIMER: I was offered a meal for two in exchange for an honest review.
