When I was running my own PR company on Pall Mall, I used to walk past and peer inside The Balcon whenever I could. It always seemed like a lovely restaurant to eat at and it was firmly on my to do list of places to go and explore. Luckily for me, as I am now doing more reviews of hotels and restaurants, it was a joy to be invited to this venue and enjoy the atmosphere for myself.

As soon as my husband and I arrived at The Balcon, we both felt very welcome and was greeted by really friendly staff. They were all wine lovers as Gary discovered when he spoke to the team and with a huge knowledge of the menu too, it made my choice of dishes a lot easier to decide on. I also loved that the wine menu was available on iPads with the iRiS software app so all the diner’s could flip through and see each wine with flavour descriptions and the year. Gary really found this a useful tool to look at and it made his decision on wine for the meal a lot easier.
Normally when I have squid it can make me feel a little off colour but the Grilled squid and Jersey
Royal potato salad we both had for starter was divine. Served cold but very refreshing, the dish had a really creamy taste from the potato salad and the squid beautifully tasty.
Everytime I go for dinner I always order a steak as I am a huge lover of beef. As I fancied a change for once, I ordered the Roasted suckling pork best end, sauteed asparagus and baby carrots and I was not disappointed! The pork was so utterly soft and tender and was really complimented by the asparagus and baby carrots. Gary is always a sucker for Lamb so he ordered that Roasted Oxfordshire lamb saddle, seasonal vegetable navarin and it looked and smelt amazing when it arrived at our table.
Desert has to be my favourite dish of any meal and after some tough decision making, both me and Gary decided on the Vanilla ice cream profiteroles, hot chocolate and praline sauce. By this time we were both pretty full but the desert was really luxurious and didn’t taste too sweet at all. The chocolate sauce and vanilla really balanced each other and it was a delicious dish to have to end such an amazing restaurant experience.
The Balcon is why I love London so much. With so much class and sophistication, the restaurant had some really warm and experienced staff that made our experience special. With great food and a beautiful decor, it was a lovely place to go with my Husband and if you fancy going, it is pretty affordable for all too!
