Brighton, London’s alternative to the Hamptons for New Yorker’s, is a place that is perfect for some well-needed R and R. With a huge stretch of coast and enough culture to keep you entertained, Brighton is a great place to work, live and play. As I work full time in London and blog full time too, I sometimes hanker for clean sea air and a break from the rat race and that’s actually what I got when Ibis recently invited me and Gary to their pop up event on Brighton beach.
As we live on the outskirts of the M25, we opted to take the car instead of getting the tube and train. I think when it comes travelling in Britain, by car is the only way to go! It makes you feel so free and alive and with websites like Carspring, anyone can easily afford to buy a car that you can use every day or use just for great escapes like we are doing.
After a quick 1hr 30mins on the road, we arrived in Brighton and was ready for some relaxation! As it was the weekend for Ibis, we were also booked into their hotel too which is located in the heart of city. It’s a great place for a hotel and with parking particularly opposite, we decided to leave our bags in the car and check in later.
The pop-up cinema is run by Brighton’s Big Screen and as we arrived, a member of their team showed us around the various stalls and screening area. Grease had just started when we arrived so after quickly stocking up with drinks and snacks, we were shown to the Ibis area which had around 5 big, clean beds all lined up. It was a little weird at first climbing on a bed to watch a film with the Brighton crowd just in front of you but when the sun started to set, it felt rather romantic snuggling up to Gary and sharing some popcorn.
There was some great brands selling their product at the pop-up cinema. Boozy Udders were there with alcohol flavoured ice cream(the Passion Fruit Martini flavour was heaven) and frozen cocktail kings, Bushmaster was there too, on hand to supply some great drinks.
It was a great atmosphere throughout and with people singing along and dancing, it was a lovely moment on Brighton Beach. Sadly though the film had to end and with dinner plans at Gars that evening, we headed back to the hotel to check in and get changed for our night out.
The hotel was everything you would want it to be. With a huge comfortable bed, a clean bathroom with a big shower and enough chocolates to keep us happy(Thanks guys!), the Ibis in Brighton was just perfect to stay at for the weekend.
But as well as a lovely snuggly bed and welcoming room, breakfast at the hotel was pretty special too. With a traditional English option available and a continental breakfast also, as well as a good night’s sleep at Ibis, you will leave with a nice full belly too.
Check out my video below of just some of the things we got up too..
Thanks Ibis for the lovely weekend!
It was well needed!
