I love being by the coast. There is something just so relaxing and calming about it but sadly I don’t get to be by the sea very often.
Gary and I had a family get together planned in Bournemouth recently so it was the perfect excuse to relax, unwind and enjoy a weekend of sea air and visit the fabulous Ocean Beach hotel.
Set along the Bournemouth coast, Ocean Beach hotel is part of the Oceana collection and was refurbished and re-branded 2 and a half years ago. It has a great look and the location of Ocean Beach hotel is just ideal.
If you are driving to Bournemouth the hotel has a great carpark on the front of the property which is fab for keeping an eye on your car and perfect if you have heavy bags! The entrance is right at the front and leads straight to reception so all good there. The staff were uber friendly when we arrived and after giving over our car registration details and finding out when breakfast was, we went up to our room.
Our room was at the front of the hotel, giving us a fabulous view of the sea. It was sadly raining a little when we arrived but it was still nice to open a window and smell the sea air.
Our room had a classic, yet modern feel to it and the bathroom was really stylish and plush. It was a really good size too and had a seating area and even a dressing table which is always useful for ladies when applying their makeup.
After we had a good catch-up with our family, Gary and I headed back to the hotel to dine at the Italian Café. Located on the ground floor, it is a colourful and fun restaurant that had classics on the menu including grilled ribeye steak, carbonara and Margherita pizza. I opted to try the veal cooked with parma ham and vegetables as I don’t normally have veal and Gary ordered the hot spicy ground beef, fresh chilli and mozzarella pizza.
I loved the veal, it was a great combination with the parma ham and vegetables and I even tried a bit of Gary’s pizza which was so tasty.
To finish off our meal, something sweet was definitely in order. We ordered the chocolate fudge cake which was heavenly with hints of fruit. It was ideal to share and it finished off the meal perfectly.
After a few more drinks we slinked off to bed for some much-needed R&R. I’m pretty fussy when it comes to bedding and mattresses but the bed in our room was really soft, yet supportive and I slept like a baby.
The next morning we got up (semi-early), got dressed and headed down to breakfast. I was in the mood for something simple like toast but caved and had something a little cooked too. There were the usual breakfast items you would expect like mushrooms, bacon, beans and more and teamed with some warm tea was fabulous.
If you are looking for somewhere in Bournemouth to stay, Ocean Beach Hotel is the 100% place you need to stay at. With a fantastic location, great rooms and really friendly staff, I would happily visit again and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
