As you can imagine, growing up with a name like LOIS, Superman references were never far away and when people can’t say my name, I even use the movie franchises to highlight that my name is not strangely pronounced.

I was pretty reluctant when I heard that Jack Snyder and Christopher Nolan were teaming up to make a new Superman movie and after the recent attempts at the stories, I just thought maybe it was best left alone. Christopher Nolan though has been at the helm of the new Batman series and rehashed and created an amazing story, cast and vision so I was hoping maybe Man of Steel would be along the same lines.

What makes Man of Steel so different from the other superhero movies is that the focus isn’t completely on Superman himself. The film begins with a rare insight into Superman’s home world before it was tragically destroyed and shows his loving parents saying goodbye to their child. As well as seeing Clark’s turbulent childhood, a strong bond between Jonathan Kent and their home life, as the audience, you start to synthesise with the Kent family and Clark’s journey with amazing abilities.

I don’t want to say too much about the film but as well as a vision feast, enjoyable storyline and amazing effects, Man of Steel is one of my all time favourite films.  The Snyder/Nolan team have produced an excellent Superman movie that over shadows the whole series. With a great performance from Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe, I am pretty excited to see where the story takes us and I think as long as Jack and Christopher are at the steering wheel, many others will be too.
