So you may already know that Gary and I are in the thick of renovating our house. We finally have a working bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom but now the living room, dining area, and kitchen are our next projects to continue with. As well as these main areas to work on, I am also going to be creating my own work area for my business and blog. I have worked from home for the last year and a half and not had a table or area to use so having my own desk and workspace will be amazing!
As I need to start working on a design fairly soon, I have recently had a little scout on Lionshome for some ideas and inspiration. As well as home decor pieces and furniture, the website also features desks and here are some of my favorites.
Ladder desks are a great way to create a work environment and help save space too. They can fit into any part of your house or flat and best yet, they look smart, are stylish and are easy to keep clean. I like that they have a storage capacity also and they are ideal for stationary, filling or even doubling up as a bookcase.
Glass desks can be seen as a little old fashioned but I think they are making a comeback! They come in all different styles and shapes now and I think they can make a plain office space look that little bit extra special. I think I prefer glass desks with metal frames as they look super durable and I do like the looks of anything a little industry.
Desks with draws are always handy and with all the files I have, this could be a style I decide on. They are good if you have a lot of paperwork day to day and there are tons of styles to choose from. I really like the idea of not having my files on show. Gary prefers a minimal and non-cluttered look in our house so the more draws and hidy-holes, the better.
It’s definitely food for thought this desk lark and I can’t wait to start renovating our living room so I can finally get my own workspace sorted. I have been dreaming about it for so long now but this year the house will finally be finished and I can work at a space dedicated to my job and blog.
I think it’s super important for everyone to have a good working area when you work from home. It can help improve productivity, your creativity and can also make you feel more professional and equipped to do your job. I definitely prefer sitting at a desk rather than a sofa as I feel like my back is more supported and I feel more energized for the day.
I will create a post of my office area when it’s being created so you can see what accessories and furniture I choose in the end.
