If you saw my 24 hours in Manchester post, you would know that on a recent trip to the Northern City, Gary and myself stopped off to enjoy a meal at The River Restaurant at The Lowry hotel. Based at the edge of the city, the hotel is perfectly placed with a grand entrance and an even nicer view over the River Irwell. I was really intrigued by the hotel and the restaurant generally and it is so close to the Manchester Arena which we were going to that night to see Phil Collins.
Based in a large room with smartly dressed tables, The River Restaurant is somewhere that all can enjoy, environment wise and the menu is varied and superb.
For starters, I wanted to try the venison tortelloni which sounded lovely with wild mushroom and spinach form and Gary ordered the pan seared scallops.
The presentation was amazing and my venison was so scrummy. Gary’s scallops were lovely too and the starters were the right size, leaving enough room for our main.
The Hubby ordered the roast saddle of rabbit (I know, a surprise order but he does love the ones we have at home) and I ordered the 10 oz cheshire sirloin. I also opted for the thick cut chips and Gary asked for the tomato & mozzarella salad.
My steak was cooked just as I like it, a little rare and a little cooked but I also tried Gary’s rabbit which was really nice also. The chips were lush and had a lovely coating and IÂ even nibbled on Gary’s salad which was really refreshing.
If you are heading to Manchester, The River Restaurant is definitely somewhere you should visit. With friendly staff, a lush location and yummy food, it is well worth booking a table and Gary and I can’t wait to visit again!
