I love exploring.
Whether it’s trekking through a woodland or walking through a city, regardless of the environment, I always want to see what there is to discover and what there is for me to experience.
I have been to Manchester a couple of times recently for business but when Gary and myself managed to get tickets to see Phil Collins, we decided to make a nice trip out of it. As it is a little too far to just go for just a day, we both decided to spend 24 hours there and see what trouble we could get up to in that time.
You can get a train from London Euston and arrive at Manchester Picadilly in just 2 hours. The ride is pretty comfortable and you can even book your desired seats also. Ticket prices can be pricey though so the earlier you book, the better! Check out Virgin Trains for more info.
There are tons of cool cafes, restaurants and shops to hang out in but I just had to check out the Cat Cafe which is on the High Street and is open 7 days a week. It’s a big place which is refreshing so there are loads of places to stretch out(like the cats do) and you just pay an hourly rate which includes all the hot chocolate and tea you can drink. It’s a really relaxing environment and it was fab to snuggly up with Gary and some cats on a cold chilly day.
I have experienced some great places in Manchester including the basement Black Dog Ballroom and a very cosy Luck Lust Liquor Burn. As Gary and I fancied somewhere a little fancier, we gave The Lowry Hotel’s, The River restaurant a go which was situated right near the Manchester Arena. With a fantastic service and amazing food, make sure you read my full review(coming soon) as this place is well worth visiting.
I really wanted a comfortable style for our Manchester trip and these Zara jeans, my Monki faux-fur coat, my Knomo bag and these Cara boots were ideal!
On our visit, we stay at the Crowne Plaza, which is just on the edge of the main high street. This 4-star hotel is in a great location for the Manchester Arena and also for any drop offs with the local taxis or Uber drivers. It is a little pricey but sometimes it’s worth spending a little more for a good bed and a decent breakfast.
I hope you enjoyed my 24 hours in Manchester! I would love to hear where you have visited in the city!
