Afternoon tea is one of those old English traditions that I totally love. Sadly though, with all of us rushing around and trying to fit in too much, I think traditions like this just kind of disappear. Thankfully though, I recently had a urge to eat scorns and finger sandwiches at 3pm one day so I called up Amy and we both headed to The Arch London one cloudy Thursday afternoon.
The Arch has that perfect twist of modern London but with old values. I love the quirky decor and it felt stylish but very friendly as soon as we walked in. I wasn’t sure what type of afternoon tea we would get but when it arrived at our table, I was pleasantly surprised to see a really traditional spread. Wedgwood crockery with a vintage print was beautifully littered with an array of triangle sandwiches including egg mayonnaise and ham and piccalilli. The dessert level was a splash of colour with a mini eton mess, chocolate orange cheesecake and a traditional battenberg.
The classic scorns, cream and strawberry jam was also present which I tucked into straight away without any prompt. As well as a wide selection of finger foods including cheese sticks(YUM), there was also a large variety of teas that you can try but I decided to stick with a simple English breakfast.
Afternoon Tea at The Arch London starts at £25 pp. If you are looking for something unique and fun to do with friends or family, this is just perfect! The food was delicious and well worth the price and the staff were really warm and helpful throughout.
After this visit, it has definitely encouraged me to enjoy Afternoon Tea more and not just for those ‘special occasions’. I loved the whole menu and experience and I think I will be visiting The Arch London again very soon…
